In this unit we will be studying the metric system and how to convert units of measure. We will be talking about measuring distance (meters), volume (liters), and weight or mass (grams). We will learn the metric conversion chart and that the metric system is based on the powers of 10. We will also learn that all conversions can be done by multiplying or dividing by the powers of 10 and how to do this using shortcuts. Students will understand the relevance of knowing and being able to use the metric system.
